    Matte, английский
    1. The keying of two scenes; the electronic laying in of a background image behind a foreground scene, such as a picture of a town meeting behind the newscaster reporting on the meeting.

    2. A non-reflective, dull subject or surface. tip: even black, semi-matte surfaces will glow, given some soft glare-light, but there`s little hope for totally dull subjects. see: scattering. the term also refers to various optical and printing effects beyond the scope of this book.
