Finger joint

  1. Technique for joining two pieces of wood. thin wood fingerlike extensions, are cut into the ends of two pieces of wood. the interlocking pieces then form a joint. when glued together, these extensions form a level surface.

  2. An end joint in which wedge shaped projections in one piece of timber fit matching recesses on the other piece and are bonded together by an adhesive.

  3. A manufacturing process of interlocking two shorter pieces of wood end to end to create a longer piece of dimensional lumber or molding. often used in jambs and casings and are normally painted (instead of stained).
