- A metallic material in which fragments of diamond or other hard substances (in unflocculated distribution) are intermixed and embedded. see impregnated bit.

- A small point of dark, hard matter in a sebaceous follicle, often found associated with acne on the skin of adolescents (note: the plural is comedones.)
- When a pore or hair follicle becomes clogged with dead skin cells and/or sebum, it results in a small bump, known as a comedo (the plural being comedones). open comedones are also known as blackheads, while closed comedones are referred to as whiteheads.
