- An elongated depression between uplands, hills, or mountains, esp. one following the course of a stream
- The "v" shaped area of a roof where two sloping roofs meet. water drains off the roof at the valleys.

- The trough or gutter formed by the intersection of two inclined planes of a roof.
- A relatively shallow, wide depression on the sea floor, the bottom of which usually has a continuous gradient. this term is generally not used for features that have canyon-like characteristics. also called submarine valley or sea valley. cf. oceanic trench.
- An elongate, relatively large, externally drained depression of the earth`s surface that is primarily developed by stream erosion or glacial activity. compare - basin. hp
