- – такое направление мыслей, чувств и желаний, которое расценивает жизнь отдельного человека (в широком смысле – также и жизнь отдельной особо ценной группы, напр. семьи) как более важную, чем жизнь больших ассоциаций и общества в целом. теоретический индивидуализм признает реальность вообще только индивидуального (см. номинализм), иначе говоря, реальность собственного сознания, или я (см. солипсизм), и поэтому отрицает возможность обязательных для всех положений, или взглядов (см. субъективизм). этико-политический индивидуализм (см. анархия, эгоизм, либерализм) рассматривает индивида как самоцель, а в счастье и всестороннем развитии отдельной личности он видит конечную цель; в- частности, общество и государство он рассматривает только как вспомогательные средства для достижения индивидом цели. широко распространенными разновидностями этико-политического индивидуализма являются хозяйственный индивидуализм, предоставляющий хозяйственную жизнь свободной игре сил (см. laissez faire), и педагогический индивидуализм, который строит воспитательную работу на принципе учета индивидуальных особенностей воспитанника, считая, что настоящее товарищество возможно лишь между всесторонне развитыми индивидами. социологический индивидуализм утверждает, что общественные процессы совершаются благодаря взаимодействию индивидов, в противоположность солидаризму или универсализму, который рассматривает общественные явления в их целостности; см. также социализм.
