    Blooming, английский
    1. The defocusing of regions of the picture where the brightness is at an excessive level, due to enlargement of spot size and halation of the fluorescent screen of the cathode-ray picture tube. in a camera, sensor element saturation and excess which causes widening of the spatial representation of a spot light source.

    2. The defocusing of regions of a picture where brightness is excessive.

    3. A visual effect caused by overexposing a ccd to too much light, this digital overexposure can cause distortions of the subject and/or color.

    4. The spreading of strong highlights into surrounding areas of the image.

    5. The appearance of a bright or colored halo around brighter areas of digital image files. blooming is caused when a portion of the imaging sensor in a digital camera is exposed to too much light, causing signal “leaks” to the neighboring pixels. see chromatic aberration.

    6. An effect caused by overexposing a ccd or sensor to too much light. this can cause distortions of the subject and/or colour.

    12. A circuit that attenuates or removes frequencies from a sound or waveform above or below a certain frequency. filters can be used to reduce unwanted noise above or below the frequency range of a voice or instrument. one type of filter, a bandpass filter, allows the frequencies within a specified range to pass, while a notch filter inhibits the frequencies in a specified range. even midi data can be filtered, using a midi data filter, to remove specified messages (pitch bend, modulation) from the midi data stream.
