Probabilistic inference

Глоссарий по искусственному интеллекту
Probabilistic inference is the process of inferring the probabilities of interest in a (bayesian) model conditional on the values (configuration) of other attributes in the model. for simpler models, such as a regression tree or decision tree model, this can be a fairly straightforward problem. for more complex models, such as a bayesian network, exact inference can be quite difficult, and may require either approximations or sampling based approaches, such as markov chain monte carlo (mcmc) methods. see also: gibbs sampling, simulated annealing.

Inference attack, английский
This usually refers to a database when an authorised entity is able to infer sensitive information from authorised query results and prevailing common knowledge. for example, an authorised user accessing a database might be able to identify an entity based on a combination of criteria, such as age, gender, date of birth and postal code.

Inference training, английский
A time-based assistant (tba) that parses emails and makes internal inferences based on them. inferences are used to allow the system to gain insight into a user’s mailbox based on user patterns. those inferences are then used to populate features for users, such as people view in outlook web app.

Inference training feeder, английский
A component that feeds data (such as mailbox messages) to the inference training assistant in batches. it controls performance by giving the inference training assistant a fixed amount of work to process at each interval.

Probabilistic, английский
  1. Вероятностный

  2. Attribute of non-deterministic systems whose transitions between states follow known or ascertainable probabilities (->probability). the ergodic behavior of probabilistic systems is describable as a markov chain. probabii.ity

  3. In probabilistic expert systems, a collection of conditional distributions for the same group of variables (referred to as the head) over all of the states of a conditioning set of variables (referred to as the tail). the conditional distribution of height and weight for various mutually exclusive groupings of age and sex would be a conditional, with height and weight as the head variables and age and sex the tail variables. see also: slice.

  4. A control structure such as an if-statement or case-statement that conditionally executes a block of code

Configuration, английский
  1. Конфигурация; компоновка; схема

  2. Конфигурация; схема; компоновка

  4. N конфигурация confixation n конфиксация confix n конфикс confucianism

  5. The relative positions of celestial bodies, as for instance those of jupiter`s satellites, with respect to the primary at any one time.

  6. Очертание, конфигурация; форма; расположение ~ of terrain характер местности

  7. The term configuration is used to refer to the particular values of a subset of attributes in a model, such as a bayesian network or neural network. these are usually being treated in this context as inputs or constraints on the model.

  8. Administrative options that control the interface and functionality of the service desk and support portal.

  9. In reference to a single microcomputer, the sum of a system’s internal and external components, including memory, disk drives, keyboard, video, and generally less critical add-on hardware, such as a mouse, modem, or printer. software (the operating system and various device drivers), the user’s choices established through configuration files such as the autoexec.bat and config.sys files on ibm pcs and compatibles, and sometimes hardware (switches and jumpers) are needed to configure the configuration’ to work correctly. although system configuration can be changed

  10. The arrangement of parts, options, or features to produce a product that meets a specification, such as a customer order.

  11. The entire interconnected set of hardware, or the way in which a network is laid out—the manner in which elements are connected.

Regression, английский
  1. Statistical technique used to evaluate relationships among variables (22).

  2. Регрессия

  3. 1. a stage where symptoms of a disease are disappearing and the person is getting better 2. (in psychiatry) the process of returning to a mental state which existed when the person was younger

  4. Regression commonly refers to the process of developing an empirical (data-driven) model to predict and/or explain one or more attributes in a database or set of data. it is most frequently associated with the simple linear model (y=mx+b) taught in most introductory statistics courses; the same ideas have been extended in many directions, including classification problems. when the emphasis is on hypothesis testing and simple models, the regression output is typically a few parameters that provide a direct linkage from the input variables to the predicted variables (or classification). in other situations the emphasis is on explaining as much of the variability in the output variables as is "reasonable" from the input variables. in this case, there are a number of "advanced" techniques, such as smoothing splines, decision trees, neural nets, and so forth, for which there are many "free" parameters. the meaning of any one of these parameters can be obscure. many data mining techniques are, at their core, variations on well-known regression techniques. see also: classification, clustering, decision trees, neural nets.

  5. The reappearance of a previously fixed problem.

  6. The statistical process of predicting one or more continuous variables, such as profit or loss, based on other attributes in the dataset.

  7. A mathematical technique used to explain and/or predict. the general form is y = a + bx + u, where y is the variable that we are trying to predict; x is the variable that we are using to predict y, a is the intercept; b is the slope, and u is the regression residual. the a and b are chosen in a way to minimize the squared sum of the residuals. the ability to fit or explain is measured by the r-square.

Optimal factoring problem, английский
Probabilistic networks offer a very flexible way to represent uncertainty and its propagation through attributes. however, it can be very "expensive" to compute marginal and joint probabilities from large and complicated nets. one solution is to find an optimal factoring of the network for a given set of target nodes in the network that minimizes the cost of computing the target probabilities. see also: bayesian network.
