- Acné
- An inflammation of the sebaceous glands during puberty which makes blackheads appear on the skin, usually on the face, neck and shoulders. these blackheads often then become infected. she is using a cream to clear up her acne.
- Pimples, blemishes, breakouts, and spots... whatever name you call it, most of us have dealt with acne at some point. when pores become clogged by dead skin cells and bacteria, they cause these pesky pimples to form. there are 6 major types of acne: whiteheads, blackheads, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. they can appear anywhere (not just your face) and at any point in your life (not just as a teen). the causes of acne are unique to each individual, but include (yet not limited to) improper cleansing and exfoliation, diet, stress, and hormones.

Typically in a gel or cream form, acne spot treatment contains a high concentration of blemish-fighting ingredients (usually benzoyl peroxide and/or salicylic acid). because of the high concentration, you should only apply the product on a particular problem area, not your entire face (hence the title “spot treatment”).
