thermocouple | - Thermocouple
- Electronic device used in place of a mechanical thermostat that measures water temperature.
- A small electric generator. electron flow between the hot junction (where pilot flame envelopes the thermocouple) and the cold junction (where the capillary meets the bottom of the thermocouple) creates millivoltage.
- A device consisting of two junctions of two dissimilar metals, in an electric circuit; when the two junctions are at different temperatures, a voltage is generated by the device; used for measuring temperature.
- Термопара, термоэлемент
- A thermoelectric device consisting of two dissimilar metallic wires fused into a bead which generates a voltage proportional to the temperature of the bead.
- Device for measuring temperature based on the fact that opposite junctions between certain dissimilar metals develop an electrical potential when placed at different temperatures. compare thermistor. glossary t-v 751
