Naive bayes

Глоссарий по искусственному интеллекту
A naive bayes classifier, like a bayes classifier, classifies on the basis of the predicted probabilities of the classes given the inputs. however, a naive bayes classifier treats the inputs as independent given the class, and estimates the distribution by simple counting, so that it is actually a frequentist approach. its general form is pr(classi | x) pr(classi) pj pr(xj | classi). it is also known as "simple bayes" or, more derisively, "idiot`s bayes." its performance can be improved by techniques such as boosting or augmented naive bayes classifiers. due to its simplicity, it is often used as reference point when comparing classifiers. as an example, suppose you have a d-category classification problem, with three binary predictors x1, x2, and x3, and you have a case with values 0, 1, and 1, respectively. then the naive bayes algorithm would score the d-th category as: p(d|0, 1, 1) p(d)p (x1 = o|d)p(x2 = 1|d)p(x3 = 1|d), where p(.|d) is the observed probability for the x value given the category. see also: bayes rule, boosting, tan bayes.

  4. An inlet of the sea formed by the curvature of the land between two capes or headlands, often used synonymously with gulf; though, in strict accuracy, the term should be applied only to those large recesses which are wider from cape to cape than they are deep. exposed to sea-winds, a bay is mostly insecure. a bay is distinguished from a bend, as that a vessel may not be able to fetch out on either tack, and is embayed. a bay has proportionably a wider entrance than either a gulf or haven; a creek has usually a small inlet, and is always much less than a bay.
