- The order to the bowman to put the boat`s head off with his boat-hook.
- To push away from a ship’s side, dock, or pier. shove off !: a rude request to go away.
Shoulder the anchor, английский
- When a seaman forgets his craft, and gives his ship too little cable to ride by, she may be thrown across tide, lift or shoulder her anchor, and drift off.
- Said when the cable is too short and the anchor is lifted by wave or tide allowing the vessel to drift.
