- Braille is a scripture that can be read by blind people with their fingers. it is a common reading and writing system for blind and partially sighted persons. it is not a language. it is just another way of writing and reading text.
- A system of writing using raised dots on the paper to indicate letters which a blind person can read by passing their fingers over the page the book has been published in braille. [introduced 1829–30. after louis braille (1809–52), blind frenchman and teacher of the blind; he introduced the system which had originally been proposed by charles barbier in 1820.]
