- , минерал подкласса слоистых силикатов, mg3[si2o5]·(oh)4. желтоватые, буро-зеленые скрытокристаллические массы. твердость до 3,5; плотность 2,5-2,6 г/см3. разновидности: офит (плотный, просвечивающий в краях поделочный камень), антигорит (чешуйчатый, скорлуповатый), хризотил-асбест (волокнистый). образуется при гидротермическом изменении ультраосновных пород. см. также асбест.
- Минерал. твердость 2,5-4,0. обычно встречается в виде плотных масс. цвет - от буровато-зеленого до черного. часто имеет пятнистую окраску. блеск стеклянный, в изломе жир- ный. спайность совершенная, но не всегда выражена. часто содержит прожилки волокнистого хризотил-асбеста, легко разделяющегося на отдельные волокна. удельный вес 2,5-2,65.
