Atv - advanced television, английский
An agglomeration of techniques, based largely on digital signal processing and transmission, that permits far more program material to be carried through channels than existing analog systems can manage. in this sense, hdtv (high definition television) is a subset of atv. atv does not automatically signify improved picture or sound performance. those are things that can be accomplished with atv in systems designed for such purposes, but it can also carry ten somewhat lower- quality signals where only one could exist previously, or permit ghost cancellation for ordinary ntsc signals. in each case, the new features derive from the use of digital techniques of one form or another.
Asynchronous communication, английский
- Takes place in different time frames and accessed at the user`s convenience. synchronous communication takes place in the same time frame such as a live teleconference.

- A form of data transmission in which information is sent and received at irregular intervals, one character at a time. because data is received at irregular intervals, the receiving modem must be signaled to let it know when the data bits of a character begin and end. this is done by means of start and stop bits.
