Hydrostatic lubrication

Oil glossary
  1. A system of lubrication in which the lubricant is supplied under sufficient external pressure to separate the opposing surfaces by a fluid film.

  2. System of lubrication that supplies the lubricant under high pressure, to promote a fluid film between opposing surfaces.

Hydrostatic, английский

Hydrostatic balance, английский

Hydrostatic extrusion, английский

Hydrostatic head, английский
The pressure in a fluid at a given point expressed in terms of the vertical height of the liquid column above that point which would produce the same pressure.

Hydrostatic joint,

Hydrostatic lining, английский

Hydrostatic press, английский

Hydrostatic pressing, английский

Hydrostatic pressure, английский
  1. The pressure equivalent to that exerted on a surface by a column of water of a given height.

  2. The pressure developed by a liquid within a liquid-saturated, porous, or crevassed rock. the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid in a saturated porous rock, as measured at the bottom of a borehole, generally is approximately equal to the hydraulic head developed by a vertical column of water as high as the depth of the borehole meas¬ured downward from the water table. see hy¬draulic head 2.

Hydrostatic pressure:, английский
Pressure varying linearly with the axial coordinate of the shell of revolution.

Hydrostatic relief, английский

Hydrostatic roller conveyor, английский

Hydrostatic slipper,

Hydrostatic state of stress,

Hydrostatic strength, английский
Of a pipe, the capability of withstanding internal pressure of a specified magnitude under specified conditions.

Hydrostatic stress, английский

Hydrostatic stress tensor,

Hydrostatic tension, английский

Hydrostatic test, английский
On a concrete pipe, a test to determine capability of the pipe (or its joints) to withstand internal hydrostatic pressure.

Hydrostatic transmission, английский
также fluid power drive i

  2. Drive by means of hydraulic motors, particularly where the drive is to each wheel of an off

Lubrication, английский
  1. The control of friction and wear by the introduction of a friction-reducing film between moving surfaces in contact. the lubricant used can be a fluid, solid, or plastic substance.

  3. On no account should oil be used to lubricate pin-tumbler cylinders. graphite is the conventional lubricant for this mechanism.

  5. The act of injecting a fluid, normally bentonite and/or polymers, to reduce the skin friction and jacking forces on the jacking pipe during installation. the fluid fills the annular space.

  6. Means of reducing friction either around a pipe being jacked or a shaft being sunk into the ground.

  7. The control of friction and wear between two moving, touching surfaces by placing a friction-reducing substance between them.

  8. Control of friction and wear by the introduction of a friction reducing film between moving surfaces in contact. the film may be fluid, solid or plastic.

  9. Reduction of friction or wear between two load-bearing surfaces by the application of a lubricant; includes boundary lubrication (thin or interrupted fluid film, especially bearings where wear occurs); mixed film, where some liquid pools support the load; elastohydrodynamic (high-pressure loads increase the lubricant’s viscosity and load-carrying capacity, especially in gears); hydrodynamic (a thick fluid film lubrication, especially in journal bearings) and hydrostatic (external pump pressure used to form a thick fluid film, as in start-up of journal bearings).

Sufficient, английский

Hypoid gear lubricant, английский
A gear lubricant having extreme pressure characteristics for use with a hypoid type of gear as in the differential of an automobile.

Hydrophobic, английский
  1. Compounds that repel water.

  2. Having a strong tendency to repel water.

  3. Having little or no affinity for water.

  4. “water hating” materials resist the absorption of water. examples of hydrophobic fibers include polyester and olefin. i

  6. Lacking affinity for or the ability to absorb water.

  7. Lacking affinity for water: incapable of uniting or mixing with water.
